Adelante is a Spanish word meaning, “forward: to progress“.

About the Blogger
As the oldest daughter of a Mexican-American family from the small town of Uvalde, Texas, the road to a legal career required constant sacrifice, courage and faith. When life opened one door, I’d follow it to the next with the support of mentors along the way. Even with support, the journey came with self-doubt, fear and big decisions; an experience I am sure most young professionals endure. There were so many times I just did not know better. But in true trailblazer fashion (shoutout to my high school mascot) I kept moving forward, making progress with every tiny step I took. As I look back at the past 30 years of life, I realized that those tiny steps have turned into major milestones in my life. I played college softball, went straight to law school, moved to California, and now returned home. With a little courage and faith, I walked heart first into each of those journeys. And so, the Adelante blog was born.
It’s my hope that this blog can give insight into my life, my unique experiences, and the niche knowledge I’ve gained along the way. We’ll talk about how I made tough decisions like deciding to go to law school and then why I paused law school to take a once in a lifetime internship. I’ll share my advice on tackling career goals, having difficult but crucial conversations, and how I navigated unprecedented times.
Over the years I’ve been fortunate to find myself in some pretty cool places, and I can’t wait to tell you about those too.
Thank you for being here.

A Grateful Goodbye
What are you doing next? When do you start? These are the questions I keep getting when I tell people that I’ve decided to resign from UTSA and the TRiO program. Sometimes it’s easy to launch into a new opportunity without taking a moment to reflect and appreciate. So while

Athlete to Lawyer: 5 Things I Wish I Knew Before Law School
It took me some time to decide whether or not I wanted to go to law school. The idea of even going down the legal path seemed intimidating and vague. I only knew two lawyers ever: one was the father of a teammate and the other was my great uncle

The Beginning: Welcome to the Adelante Blog
I keep waiting for the right time to start writing. I keep waiting until I think I have a carefully curated schedule that is “good enough”. Truth is, my journey has been anything but conventional. Navigating my life feels like I’m trying to contain a fire: uncontrollable with a spirit
