born and raised in texas

I was born in South Texas to two parents who believed deeply that their children could have opportunities greater than the ones they were given. With faith, hard work, and determination, they made the decision to continue their education and build a better life for our family — a choice that eventually led us to East Texas, where I spent most of my childhood growing up in small towns throughout the Piney Woods.

As the daughter of a state prison warden, I also grew up understanding discipline, sacrifice, and public service from an early age. Moving from town to town taught me how to adapt quickly, connect with people from different backgrounds, and appreciate the strength found in rural communities that are often overlooked.

Those experiences gave me a deep understanding of both struggle and opportunity. I saw firsthand how education, sports, and mentorship could completely change the trajectory of a person’s life — because they changed mine. My upbringing continues to shape the way I approach my work, my advocacy, and the communities I care about serving today.

      athletics to advocacy

From the opportunity to play college sports at a small university in Oklahoma to earning both a law degree and a Master of Science in Sport Management at Texas Tech University, my journey has been shaped by the belief that education and experience can change the direction of a person’s life.

Along the way, I intentionally built experiences that blended athletics, higher education, and law. My work expanded from athletic advocacy and national-level exposure at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) national office in Indiana to admissions, recruiting, and eligibility work at University of California, Berkeley — one of the nation’s leading public universities. Working in those spaces gave me firsthand insight into how educational access, institutional support, and athletics can open doors for students from all backgrounds.

Those experiences ultimately shaped the perspective I carry today: that opportunity changes lives, but understanding how to navigate those opportunities can be just as important.

      a call back home

Today, I am back home in Texas building my legal career in public service and continuing to grow as a trial attorney. Growing up around conversations about the justice system gave me early exposure to how deeply institutions and public systems impact people’s everyday lives. At the same time, my experiences as a student-athlete, first-generation college athlete, and someone who has worked across athletics, higher education, and law continue to shape the way I view advocacy, access, and opportunity.

My work in the courtroom has become a space where those experiences come together in a practical way. Trial work challenges me daily to think critically under pressure, communicate effectively, analyze facts quickly, prepare strategically, and advocate in real time. It has become one of the most hands-on and demanding environments I have worked in — one that constantly sharpens my ability to lead, problem solve, and communicate clearly.

Working boots on the ground in Texas courtrooms also gives me a direct understanding of how law and public institutions affect people beyond policy discussions or textbooks. Every case, courtroom, and interaction continues to deepen my perspective on service, advocacy, and the importance of strong representation within the communities I care about most.
